In 2017, Community Housing completed the Renal Accommodation Project, an 18 month project which involved the purchase and refurbishment of 10 houses in Alice Springs (8) and Tennant Creek (2). The properties were built to address the lack of housing available for end stage renal patients who need to relocate from remote communities.
The project was funded by the Department of Housing and Community Development through a partnership with the Commonwealth to create more family-centric renal accommodation. The project was managed by Community Housing in partnership with Tangentyere Design, and the properties were delivered by MPH Projects, a local Alice Springs contractor.
Community Housing has now been managing the properties as part of our community housing portfolio through a partnership with NT Department of Health which will continue for 10 years.
