In May 2020, local building company Edifice began the construction of four 2-bedroom units at CHCA’s Bloomfield St site.
The project is jointly funded by the NT Department of Territory Families, Housing and Communities and the National Indigenous Australians Agency.
The new homes will be offered as affordable housing to working Aboriginal families and end-stage renal patients.
‘The new development will create another four affordable housing units for Aboriginal people and families. We’re looking forward to welcoming our new residents in early 2021,’ said CHCA CEO John McBryde.
The construction phase will also deliver employment opportunities for local Aboriginal labourers with set employment targets.
The units are now taking shape and are due to be completed before the end of 2020.
